At the invitation of Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, Foreign Affairs Minister of Chile Francisco Pérez Mackenna will pay an official visit to China from August 18 to 22.
总台央视记者：中方发布了约旦国王阿卜杜拉二世将对中国进行国事访问的消息，能否介绍此访安排？如何评价当前中约关系？对此访有何期待？
CCTV: China announced that King Abdullah II of Jordan will pay a state visit to China. Can you brief us on this visit? How does China view its relations with Jordan? What’s China’s expectation on this visit?
林剑：此次访问是阿卜杜拉二世国王登基以来第九次访华。访问期间，习近平主席将同阿卜杜拉二世国王举行会谈，就双边关系和共同关心的国际地区问题交换意见。李强总理、赵乐际委员长将分别会见阿卜杜拉二世国王。阿卜杜拉二世国王还将赴上海、深圳参访。
Lin Jian: This is King Abdullah II’s ninth visit to China after his enthronement. During the visit, President Xi Jinping will hold talks with him, exchanging their opinions on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest. Premier Li Qiang and Chairman Zhao Leji of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress will meet with King Abdullah II respectively. King Abdullah II will also visit Shanghai and Shenzhen.
中国同约旦传统友好。在习近平主席和阿卜杜拉二世国王战略引领下，近年来中约关系不断走深走实，各领域合作成果丰硕，两国友好交往持续深化。中方愿同约方一道，以此访为契机，携手增进政治互信，拓展互利合作，促进人文交流，密切多边协作，推动中约战略伙伴关系迈上新台阶，为地区和平、稳定、发展作出积极贡献。
China and Jordan enjoy traditional friendship. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and King Abdullah II, China-Jordan relations have grown steadily with fruitful cooperation in various fields and ever-deepening friendly exchanges. China will work with Jordan to take this opportunity to jointly enhance political mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, promote people-to-people exchanges, and deepen collaboration on multilateral occasions, so as to take China-Jordan strategic partnership to a new height and make positive contributions to regional peace, stability and development.

Bloomberg: President Donald Trump said that he told the Pentagon to “substantially reduce” joint military exercises between the United States and South Korea. He cited the cost of the drills and his “very good relationship” with the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were behind his thinking. Can I ask, would China support renewed dialogue between the United States and the DPRK?
林剑：我们注意到有关报道。维护朝鲜半岛和平稳定、推动半岛问题政治解决符合各方共同利益。
Lin Jian: We noticed relevant reports. A peaceful and stable Peninsula and a political settlement of the Korean Peninsula issue are in the interest of all parties.
澎湃新闻记者：据报道，印尼弗洛勒斯岛附近海域15日发生7.7级地震，至少数十人遇难。中方对此有何评论？是否将对印尼提供援助？
The Paper: It is reported that dozens of people have been killed after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake hit the adjacent waters of Flores, Indonesia on August 15. What’s China’s comment? Will China provide any assistance to Indonesia?
林剑：中方关注印尼地震灾情。我们对遇难者表示深切哀悼，向遇难者家属和受伤人员表示诚挚慰问。中方愿根据印尼方面需要提供积极协助。
Lin Jian: China is following the disaster in Indonesia. We express deep condolences for the lives lost in the earthquake. Our hearts go out to the bereaved families and the injured. China stands ready to provide support and aid in light of Indonesia’s needs.
《人民日报》记者：中方发布了智利外长佩雷斯访华的消息，请问中方如何评价当前中智关系？对此访有何期待？
People’s Daily: To follow up on the announced visit by Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna, how do you see the current China-Chile relations? What does China hope to achieve through the visit?
林剑：智利是拉美和亚太地区重要国家，也是首个同新中国建交的南美国家。建交半个多世纪以来，中智关系走在中国同拉美和加勒比国家关系前列。近年来，在两国元首战略引领下，中智关系不断取得新进展，政治互信日益牢固，各层级交往更加频繁，各领域合作不断深化。
Lin Jian: Chile, an important country in Latin America and the Asia Pacific, is the first South American nation to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. Over the past half a century or so since then, China-Chile relations have been at the forefront of China’s relations with Latin American and Caribbean nations. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, bilateral ties have kept growing, with strengthening political mutual trust, more frequent exchanges at all levels, and deepening cooperation across the board.
今年是中智建立全面战略伙伴关系10周年。中方期待通过此访，同智方就双边关系以及共同关心的国际和地区问题深入交换意见，赓续友谊、扩大共识、深化合作，推动中智关系再上新台阶。
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership. We hope to take the upcoming visit as an opportunity to have in-depth exchanges of views with the Chilean side on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest, renew our friendship, expand consensus and deepen cooperation, with a view to bringing China-Chile relations to a new height.

Reuters: Regarding U.S. President Trump ordering the Pentagon to substantially reduce its joint military exercises with South Korea. We wanted to know what’s China’s view of his comments. Does China view it as U.S. vying for influence in North Korea, and that being a threat or a challenge to Beijing’s strategic alliance with Pyongyang?
林剑：我刚才已经阐明了中方立场，维护朝鲜半岛和平稳定、推动半岛问题政治解决符合各方共同利益。
Lin Jian: I just shared China’s position. A peaceful and stable Peninsula and a political settlement of the Korean Peninsula issue are in the interest of all parties.
印尼安塔拉通讯社记者：关于印尼地震，巴厘岛等受中国游客欢迎的旅游胜地亦有震感。有无中国游客受地震影响？外交部会否建议中国公民暂时避免前往受灾地区？
Antara: Still related with the earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara in Indonesia, the earthquake was also felt in Bali and several other destinations popular among Chinese tourists. Are there any reports of Chinese tourists being affected by the earthquake? And will the ministry advise Chinese citizens avoid traveling to the earthquake-affected areas for the time being?
林剑：据了解，有个别中国公民在地震中受伤。中国驻登巴萨总领馆已启动领事保护应急机制，为地震中受伤人员提供协助。
Lin Jian: To my knowledge, a few Chinese citizens were injured in the earthquake. The Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar has activated the emergency consular response mechanism to assist the injured.

Xinhua News Agency: It’s reported that Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi delivered a speech at the Memorial Ceremony for the War Dead held on August 15. What’s China’s comment?
林剑：高市早苗在致辞中回避“反省”“教训”，模糊侵略罪责，大开历史倒车，再次暴露出高市政权妄图对侵略历史进行掩盖、歪曲和翻案的险恶用心，已引发各方强烈谴责和广泛反对。日本战败投降日当天，高市早苗向“战犯神社”供奉祭祀费，日本防卫大臣小泉进次郎等高官和政要还前往参拜，进一步加剧亚洲邻国和国际社会对日本国家走向的高度警惕。日本国内有识之士指出，一个不知反省的国家无法获得信任，防卫大臣的做法等同于支持侵略战争。
Lin Jian: Sanae Takaichi in her speech avoided the words “remorse” and “lessons learned,” spoke ambiguously about Japan’s war crimes, and attempted to turn back the wheel of history. It once again reveals the motives of Takaichi’s administration to whitewash and reverse the verdict on the history of Japanese aggression. Various parties expressed sharp criticism and widespread opposition over her speech. On the day marking Japan’s unconditional surrender in the Second World War, Sanae Takaichi made a monetary offering to the Yasukuni war shrine. Certain senior officials and political figures such as Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi visited the shrine. It made Asian neighbors and the international community even more alarmed by what’s Japan really up to. Those with insights in Japan pointed out that a country without sense of remorse can hardly gain trust and what the Defense Minister has done amounts to supporting the war of aggression.
今年是中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利81周年，也是东京审判开庭80周年。唯有正视历史、以史为鉴，才能避免重蹈覆辙、再入歧途。我们再次敦促日本为政者认真倾听日本国内和国际社会正义之声，深刻反省罪责，同军国主义彻底切割，不要在错误的道路上越走越远。
This year marks the 81st anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War and the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Tokyo Trials. Only by facing up to and learning lessons from the history, can one avoid repeating past mistakes. We once again urge those running the Japanese government to listen to the voice of its people and the international community, deeply reflect on its war crimes, make a clean break with militarism and stop going further down the wrong path.

The following question was raised after the press conference: Some media in Pakistan have reported that more than 100 Chinese nationals were detained last week for running what they said were “illegal call centers” there. I wondered if you have any more information or any comment on these detentions.
林剑：中国政府一贯严厉打击电诈犯罪，要求海外中国公民严格遵守当地法律法规，不从事违法犯罪活动。同时，中国积极开展打击电诈国际合作，已启动成立国际打击电信网络诈骗联盟，期待各方与中方携手共同打击犯罪。
Lin Jian: The Chinese government has all along fought telecom fraud and related crimes severely, and asked Chinese nationals overseas to strictly abide by local laws and regulations, and refrain from engaging in any unlawful and criminal activities. In the meanwhile, China has taken active effort to carry out international cooperation against telecom fraud, and is on track to launch an international alliance against telecom and online fraud. We hope parties will work with China to jointly combat criminal activities.
