小时候在龙泉的那段经历,像是刻在DNA编码里的生命程序,那些记忆和经历深深地烙印在我的心中,成为我成长中不可逆的一部分。青瓷对我来说既是熟悉又陌生的材料。它曾是我家中寻常的装饰,但在亲身体验其制作过程后,我才发现它背后蕴含的复杂与精妙,这令我对这古老的工艺肃然起敬。

本次展览以“程序”为主题,以我在青瓷厂一个月的创作经历作为灵感,从初始的注浆成型、到泥料回收及瑕疵品处理,将制作流程转换为视觉语言,呈现每一步的挑战与独特之处。

程序代表着“过程”和“顺序”像是一种既定的线性规则,和时间线一样,不可逆转。电脑里的程序编程,像是精确编排的指令序列,每一步都环环相扣,确保最终目标的实现。血液里DNA的程序关系,如同生命的基本法则,每一个基因片段都携带着特定的信息,指导着生物体的生长和发展。工厂里的生产程序,是一套经过精心设计的流程,每个环节紧密相连,确保生产的高效和质量。

正如雷德侯在《万物》中所描述的那样,无论是模块化生产还是自我复制,都在不同的层面上体现了生命的秩序和规律。这些内在的秩序和规律,不仅存在于艺术和文化中,也贯穿于我们的生活和成长过程中,引导着我们前行。

The experience I had in Longquan when I was a child is like a life program engraved in the DNA code; those memories and experiences are deeply imprinted in my heart and have become an irreversible part of my growth. Celadon is both a familiar and unfamiliar material to me. It used to be an ordinary decoration in my home, but after experiencing its production process, I realized the complexity and subtlety behind it, which made me respect this ancient craft.

The theme of this exhibition is "Procedure", inspired by my one-month experience at the celadon factory, from the initial slip casting, to the recycling of clay and the treatment of defects, the production process is transformed into a visual language, presenting the challenges and uniqueness of each step.

Procedure represents "process" and "sequence" like a set linear rule, irreversible like a timeline. Programming in a computer is like a precise sequence of instructions, where each step is interlocked to ensure that the final goal is achieved. The programmed relationships of DNA in the bloodstream are like the basic laws of life, with each gene segment carrying specific information that guides the growth and development of the organism. The production program in a factory is a carefully designed set of processes, each link closely connected to ensure efficient and quality production.

As Lothar Ledderose describes in Ten thousand things, both modular production and self-replication embody the order and laws of life at different levels. These inherent orders and laws exist not only in art and culture, but also throughout our lives and growth, guiding us forward.

2024年11月30日下午,“程序”——驻场艺术家金楠稀个人青瓷作品展览在龙泉望瓯陶溪川文创街区“邑画廊”顺利开幕。金楠稀在中国成长,后在美国接受艺术教育,目前暂时生活和工作在美国芝加哥,对中国传统陶瓷文化和艺术一直保持着强烈的兴趣和热情。在来到家乡驻场前,她阅读了大量的龙泉青瓷的历史和资料,在完美和精致的龙泉青瓷中获得创作灵感。她以“程序”为展览名称,展示她在龙泉为期一个月驻场创作的23件/组作品,叙述她对龙泉青瓷的理解。


On the afternoon of November 30th, 2024, the "Procedure" - a solo porcelain exhibition by resident artist Jin Nanxi was successfully opened at the "Yi Gallery" in the Longquan Wanou Taoxichuan Creative Street District. Jin Nanxi grew up in China and received her art education in the United States. She currently lives and works in Chicago, maintaining a strong interest and passion for traditional Chinese ceramic culture and art. Before coming to her hometown for her residency, she read extensive historical materials about Longquan celadon, drawing creative inspiration from the perfect and exquisite Longquan blue-green porcelain. Under the name "Procedure", she displayed 23 collaborative works created during her one-month residency in Longquan, narrating her understanding of Longquan celadon.

执行策展人吴凡沁在致辞中对金楠稀驻场创作付出的努力表示感谢。她认为金楠稀聚焦了她对青瓷制作生产中严谨程序的关注和怀疑,也聚焦了对传统青瓷器物重构的实验性和概念性的探索,以极具个人的思考和特质展现龙泉青瓷的另一种可能性。


The executive curator Wu Fanqin expressed gratitude for Jin Nanxi's efforts during her residency. She believed that Jin Nanxi focused on the rigorous procedures of celadon production, questioning and exploring these processes with an experimental and conceptual approach to reconstructing traditional ceramic objects. Jin Nanxi presented another possibility of Longquan celadon through her highly personal thoughts and distinctive characteristics.

学术主持丽水学院中国青瓷学院副院长杨吴伟在致辞中认为:“金楠稀以往作品中率真豪气的特点给她留下了深刻印象。此次在龙泉的一个月驻场创作对金楠稀来说既是挑战也是延续。她的作品关注了陶瓷制作过程的意义与对其程序的思考。展厅中的作品丰富多样,从陌生到熟悉,是对龙泉青瓷经典造型的重新塑造,营造出了一种自由轻松的氛围。她遵从龙泉泥与釉潜在的规则,在这基础上对陶瓷工厂生产程序中的“点”进行探索,并且放大了“点”的意义,在完美与残缺间找到生长点,赋予作品逻辑审美。同时,她深入思考了光线与青瓷的关系,注重青釉在光线作用下的层次与色影关系,精心设计了23件/组青瓷作品,布局于白色的空间。她的作品营造出了一种整体感,使得整个空间充满活力”。


In the opening remarks, Yang Wuwei, Vice Dean of the Chinese Celadon Academy at Lishui University, said: "Jin Nanxi's previous works left a profound impression with their straightforward and bold characteristics. This one-month residency in Longquan was both a challenge and a continuation for her. Her works focus on the significance of ceramic production processes and contemplation of their procedures. The works in the exhibition hall are rich and diverse, transforming from unfamiliar to familiar, representing a reimagining of Longquan celadon's classic forms, creating a free and relaxed atmosphere. She followed the potential rules of Longquan clay and glaze, and on this basis explored the 'points' in ceramic factory production processes, magnifying their significance. She found growth points between perfection and incompleteness, imbuing the works with logical aesthetics. Additionally, she deeply considered the relationship between light and celadon, paying attention to the layers and color shadows of the blue-green glaze under light. She carefully designed 23 pieces/groups of celadon works, arranged in a white space, creating an overall sense that filled the entire space with vitality."

浙江省陶瓷协会会长徐定昌大师在致辞中表达了自己的喜悦之情。他认为:“金楠稀用青瓷延续了家族的记忆与渊源。她的作品在表现形式上彰显了年轻活力与开阔的视野,给龙泉传统青瓷创新提供了一个很好的案例,值得学习和研究”,同时表示,她身体力行,亲力亲为的工作态度体现了龙泉青瓷人的工匠精神,并希望她在未来能够继续讲龙泉青瓷故事,做龙泉青瓷的创作。


Xu Dingchang, President of the Zhejiang Ceramic Association, expressed his delight in his speech. He believed that "Jin Nanxi continued her family's memory and heritage through celadon. Her works demonstrate youthful vitality and a broad perspective in their expressive forms, providing an excellent example of innovation for traditional Longquan celadon, worthy of learning and research." He also noted that her hands-on, personally engaged work attitude embodied the craftsman spirit of Longquan celadon artisans. He expressed hope that she would continue to tell the story of Longquan celadon and create works in the future.

艺术家金楠稀在致辞中表示,她本次的驻场创作不仅是个人精神上的一种回归和报答,更是对龙泉青瓷的敬畏和学习。她对驻场期间给予她帮助的工厂、工作室以及研究院的工作人员表达了深深的谢意,也希望有机会再来龙泉创作。


Artist Jin Nanxi stated in her speech that this residency was not only a personal spiritual return and repayment, but more importantly, a gesture of reverence and learning toward Longquan celadon. She expressed her deep gratitude to the factory, studio, and research institute personnel who helped her during her residency, and also expressed hope for another opportunity to create in Longquan.
