双节棍其实是宋太祖赵匡胤发明的！当时的赵国胤还是五代中后周的一名高级军队将领，在一次大战中，他手中的齐眉棍前端被砍断，顿时处于下风，于是便下令收兵。武器被斩断的赵匡胤很苦恼。
The nunchaku was actually invented by Zhao Kuangyin, the First Emperor of the Song Dynasty! 一天，他发现自己的三个土兵和一个农民在打架，农民手拿连枷，面对三个土兵丝毫不畏惧，而士兵手拿长枪，并且是三打一，但是丝毫占不到任何便宜。这给了赵匡胤灵感，于是他把被砍断的齐眉棍拿到铁匠铺，让铁匠把一长一短两截木棍按照连枷的样式用铁环连在一起。
One day, he noticed three of his soldiers and a peasant fighting. The peasant, armed with a flail, faced three soldiers without fear, while the soldiers, armed with long spears, were outnumbered but gained no advantage. This gave Zhao Kuangyin inspiration. He took the broken Qimei stick to a blacksmith's shop and had the blacksmith join a long and a short piece of wood with iron rings, similar to the design of a flail.
赵匡胤将这个改造的新武器命名为盘龙棍。敌军来攻城，赵匡胤一举拿下胜利，从此，盘龙棍便在武林中流传开来，习武之人参照盘龙棍的原理，制造出了适用于近身短打的“三节棍”与“双节棍”。
