China Daily reporter Peng Yixuan decided to randomly approach passersby on the street to write postcards for strangers, hoping that in this way, she could bring people closer together and discover the warmer side of the locals.
Later, Peng encountered an elderly couple from Siberia. The gentleman warmly said that he had been with his wife for 47 years. When they met, his wife was 15 years old, and he was only 10. They wrote, "We are from Siberia, currently traveling around the world. Wishing you all the best."
He wrote down the famous lines from Pushkin: "If by life you were deceived, don't be dismal, don't be wild! In the day of grief, be mild. Merry days will come, believe."
Night had fallen, and Peng's postcard deliveries had come to an end. She used a translator to say 'goodbye' to the Russian grandfather. She also bid 'goodbye' on behalf of all the people who had written postcards today.
