While the globaleconomic and financial outlook has improved in the last six months,many countries continue to struggle with high public debt amidnew challenges from dimming medium-term growth prospects. Countriesneed to take decisive efforts to safeguard sustainable public finances andrebuild fiscal buffers. Buildingsuch foundations requires countries to take a medium-term approach to budgetaryplanning and execution at all levels of government. Thispresentation explains the three pillars of the new fiscal architecture thatneed to be established to build the quality and efficiency of publicspending and financial management across the levels of government.
