On October 3, China Basketball Association (CBA) announced the 2022-23 season will begin on October 10. However, most team players from the Guangdong Southern Tigers are currently under quarantine after one person with COVID visited the training facility on October 1 afternoon.
10月3日，CBA宣布2022-2023赛季将于10月10日开打。然而，1名无症状感染者10月1日下午到访过广东华南虎训练基地，导致该队大部分球员目前都处于集中隔离状态。
The team quickly announced on Thursday that it had done contract-tracing and have since found close contacts among the team members during the investigation of asymptomatic cases imported from other provinces.

As of October 5, relevant personnel of the team are under centralized quarantine as well as medical observation with accordance to the requirements of epidemic prevention and control. On September 30, P. LEAGUE+ held a press conference to reveal the official schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 regular season. This will be the league’s third year of operating the professional league.

During the press conference, the league announced the number of total regular season games will be increased from 90 games in the previous season to 120 in 2022-23. As a result of the additional 30 games, the season will start on November 5 (a month earlier than last season) and the regular season is expected end in mid May.
